Tarot cards ?

 Got this idea while doing Io’s character reference. Io is Suna’s assistant, she guards her territory, a gigantic desert located in the Southern hemisphere of Oneiro. She always caries this strange object with her: who knows what are its nature and purpose ? The only thing Io knows is that it is given from generation to generation within her family.
